How to groom a feral cat, starring Grandpa Mason - TinyKittens.com

Mason is an ancient, battle-scarred feral cat who has terminal kidney disease. We had a choice whether to euthanize him on the spot, or bring him home and give him a chance to spend his sunset months in comfort. His story: felt after everything he had survived, he deserved a chance to know comfort and freedom from pain for as long as he had left.

He has adjusted remarkably well to life in his foster home. He plays, interacts with the other cats, fell in LOVE with some foster kittens, and is indeed enjoying being alive.

His feral instincts remain very strong, and he thinks the Human Predator is going to eat him. Therefore, it is important to come up with ways to interact with him that are low stress and build trust. I don't push him as hard as I push most of our other ferals, but I do need to be able to interact with him in order to manage his health and make sure he is feeling good.
